January 2021 - my friend Mahesh FaceTimes me from Somaliland where he is working with cheetahs. He tells me about his friend in Kenya who is starting a new expeditions company and how I should join him down there at some point this year. I do my usual 'yeah yeah I will for sure think about it' and go on with my boring lockdown life in London.
Fast forward 2 months and I am touching down in Nairobi in the dead of night ready for the adventure of a lifetime.
I met up with Mahesh in Nairobi for a few days of acclimatising and testing out equipment before we set off into the heart of Kenya to find our friend and adopted cousin James 'Jemu' Mwenda.

Two months, one COVID red listing & an epic cross country journey later and we have memories to last a lifetime and endless tales to be told.
Over the next few weeks I will be posting more blogs about our Kenyan adventure and all the amazing experiences that we shared with Jemu and his secret project.
Watch this space.
