Azure

Azure was made during the same encounter as Arise in South Ari Atoll.

What drew me to this frame was not just the whale shark itself, but the amount of blue surrounding it.

There is something about that perspective that I have always found humbling.

We often think of whale sharks in terms of their scale, but moments like this reveal something else: how vast the world around them really is.

Azure is a photograph about that relationship between animal and ocean - a reminder that even the largest lives can become just a small part of the blue.
