Dive schedules can change with ocean conditions and wildlife activity, but this gives you an idea of how the week will flow.

Day 1

Arrival In Fuvahmulah

Travel to Fuvahmulah, settle into Ataraxis Grand, meet the group and prepare your diving and photography equipment for the days ahead.

Days 2-6

Diving, Sharks & Photography

Spend the expedition exploring Fuvahmulah's dive sites, photographing tiger sharks and searching for the island's wider pelagic wildlife. Photography guidance and image discussions are woven throughout the week.

Day 7

Departure

Finish the expedition and begin the journey home with new underwater photographs, experiences and stories from one of the Maldives' wildest islands.

This is an illustrative itinerary rather than a fixed daily programme. Diving schedules and sites can change depending on weather, ocean conditions, wildlife activity and operational requirements.

Ataraxis Grand will be our base for the expedition, giving us a comfortable place to relax between dive days while experiencing life on Fuvahmulah.

Meet Kaush

Kaush is a wildlife conservation biologist (MSc), award-winning wildlife photographer and filmmaker, and experienced expedition leader.

His work combines underwater photography, marine ecology and storytelling, with extensive experience diving with and documenting some of the ocean's most powerful marine species.

Throughout Shark Island, Kaush will be there to help with underwater photography, storytelling and understanding the wildlife you're experiencing.

Is Shark Island Right For You?

You don't need to be a professional photographer, but there are a few things worth knowing before joining.

Diving

A minimum Advanced Open Water certification is required. Fuvahmulah is an open-ocean diving destination, so your diving experience can be discussed during the application process.

Photography

All photography experience levels are welcome. You do not need professional camera equipment to benefit from the expedition.

Solo Travellers

You are very welcome to join alone. The small group makes it easy to become part of the expedition community.

Shark Mindset

This trip is designed for people who are excited by sharks but also want to observe and photograph them respectfully rather than treating encounters as a spectacle.
