Embers

Embers was photographed from above as the sun dropped over the Indian Ocean in the Maldives.

From the air, the entire surface seemed to change.

Deep blues gave way to burning oranges and reds, with the last light of the day reflecting across the water in long, shifting patterns.

What made the scene feel so dramatic was the contrast - the calm of the ocean beneath a sky that looked almost on fire.

For a few minutes, the landscape felt completely transformed.

Embers is a photograph about that transition between day and night - a fleeting moment when light, water and atmosphere come together and turn something familiar into something almost unreal.
