Formidable

Formidable was photographed in Kenya in 2021.

There are few experiences in the wild quite like being directly in front of an African elephant.

From this angle, the scale of the animal becomes impossible to ignore, the width of the ears, the texture of the skin, the weight of the head and the quiet intelligence behind the eyes.

For a moment, everything else in the landscape seemed to disappear.

The photograph became less about documenting an elephant and more about the feeling of being in its presence.

Formidable is a portrait of strength and character, a face-to-face encounter with one of Africa's most iconic animals, captured in a moment where nothing else seemed to matter.
